The Krewe of Hermes will once again fulfill the role of Grand Finale' in the Mardi Gras! Galveston Knights of Momus parade on Saturday, February 21, 1998.

The Krewe of Hermes has a long established tradition of providing the Mardi Gras! Galveston reveler with both the most and the best in quality throws. Annually, the Hermes Battleship, the float with the most provocative theme (not to mention the throws again), navigates the scenic parade route with all guns blazing, showering bead shrapnel into the crazed crowd at all elevations. The smart people in the crowd will be holding Hermes signs so the krewe members can take aim. The smarter ones will also be wearing helmets to deflect the avalanche of beads.

To everyone's amazement, the Hermes Medallion Man will unveil his many unique and special creations and toss them into the crowd to create the usual surge in the intensity of the moment. These medallions are collectors items and the savvy crowd is always ready to pounce. This year his production medallions will be on sale at Fishtales at 25th and Seawall and other fine locations.



Those lucky enough to have caught one of these jewels in the past wiil feel a sense of urgency to get this year's trophy catch.

The collectors play it safe by purchasing them at Fishtales or by coming by the staging area at 22nd and Seawall early to try to cut a deal on a one of a kind medallion, of which there are several. From the Seawall, Hermes is the LAST FLOAT. Check out the samples in the border.



The Krewe of Hermes would like to thank the following establishments for making the 1997 Galveston! Mardi Gras a blast for the krewe and their many friends: Hotel Galvez, Landry's, The Tremont House, Strand Brewery, Charley's 517 at the Wentletrap, Fitzpatrick's Irish Pub and especially Trumpet for the killer party on Friday.
